Summer Fun

The last several weeks have flown by in a whirlwind!  We just finished a very brief visit with Kathy.  Is seems the anticipation of waiting for the arrival of her four-day visit far surpassed the time she was actually home.  But we are grateful for the time we had together though it was short.

The Saturday she flew in we had a party celebrating all the summer birthdays.  A beautiful flower arrangement graced the table.

We were also grateful that Kathy could be present for little Katie's baptism!

Before the season ended, Dad and I wanted to take the four oldest Turner children to an Indian's baseball game. It was so much fun to watch them enjoy this classic, summer sport!  And it was an exciting game, too, with a grand slam the very first inning!  Folks, I think the world has some new baseball fans. ;)

Watching the batting practice...

I think Hannah's favorite part was eating popcorn and crackerjacks, drinking Pepsi, and clapping with the rest of the crowd.  You know, all the baseball necessities... ;)

Just last night I enjoyed an outing to the Indiana State Fair with several friends.  Summer certainly wouldn't be summer without enjoying that delicious fair ice cream and seeing the world's largest pig, right?

So now it's looking into the fall!  The calendar already looks like quite full, and I'm greatly looking forward to the day when the holidays bring us back together again.  Until then, we go forward grateful for God's faithfulness and grace.

Wisdom's Words

It does not matter how great the pressure is.  What really matters is where the pressure lies - whether it comes between you and God, or whether it presses you nearer his heart.

Wisdom's Words

Our mission is not fulfilled because of the adequacy of our financial and intellectual resources, but our mission is guaranteed by the supernatural resources of a God who promises his presence to fulfill that mission.

Wisdom's Words

We have been in many trials, but we have never yet been placed where we could not find in our God all that we needed. Let us then be encouraged to trust in the Lord forever, assured that His ever-lasting strength will be, as it has been, our deliverance and comfort.

The Passing Days

This last month has held several special family moments.  For our July 4th celebration, I picked up Hannah early one Saturday afternoon and brought her over to the house to help me decorate and make our festive dessert for that evening.

Don't you think they turned out cute?

Hannah was also thrilled to announce to us that she'll take up violin lessons later this month!  So with two on piano and one already mastering the violin, the Turner family is well on their way to having a full-blown orchestra! ;)

This past weekend we celebrated Laura's birthday.  I made a lemon blueberry trifle for dessert which turned out tasting quite yummy.

Though I don't have any pictures to show for this, I couldn't wait for Laura to open the gift I put together for her:  two albums holding pictures of her kids from 2007-2016 (with room to add more in the coming years).

Little Katie is growing and looks just like a baby doll. :)

We look forward to Kathy coming home for four days later this month!  It will be good to be together again as a family before the fall semester begins.
