Providence

The last days have held events I wasn't anticipating, but I'm so grateful for God's protection and provision.  As I arrived at church yesterday morning for worship, a car rolled over my left foot in a freak accident, and I sustained a crush injury.  When the verdict came back that there were no broken bones, I breathed a sigh of relief.  So it's ice and elevation and wearing a boot for extended periods of walking, but it will heal in time.  God has been so good to me.

This is admittedly a sore trial since I love to be active, but it is good to have seasons where one is forced to slow down.  I've certainly had plenty of time to read my Bible, pray, and ponder things before the Lord.  I'm praying for a swift recovery and that I will learn all that God has for me in this.

#fathersday2019

I'm so thankful for the father God has given me. Especially during these last months that have been a roller coaster physically and emotionally, he's been right beside me, guiding me, counseling me, encouraging me, providing for me, loving me. I have fond memories of our vacations together exploring the streets of NYC, hiking to the top of Bunker Hill Monument, enjoying the beauty of Mr. Rainier, or dreaming of our adventure in Alaska. Our biking excursions have taken us all over the city, and our common enjoyment of baseball and basketball have landed us in sporting arenas for thrilling games. It has been a delight to serve with him together at our church and watch the Lord mature his people and spread his gospel across the globe.
But most of all, I'm grateful for his prayers and spiritual investment in my life. Those times of family worship, those weekly breakfast dates that set my mind on the right track, those words of counsel and exhortation - these are the things that God has used over the years to shape me and prepare me for service. I'm eternally grateful. I love you, Dad!
