Rachael & Eric's Wedding, Pt. 1

We are so grateful to God for giving us a beautiful day on Saturday as Rachael and Eric were united in marriage.  There are many pictures yet to be posted, but here are a few from the pre-wedding preparations towards the end of last week.

We were so grateful for special friends who gave of their time and talent in helping us set up and decorate for the wedding.  Fun memories made while doing hard work.

One task was decorating eight dozen cupcakes baked by Ben himself.

Rachael's Bridal Shower

It was a lovely evening on Monday as we celebrated Rachael's upcoming marriage to Eric during her bridal shower.  We were overwhelmed by all the love and support from our church family and friends.  We were also very grateful that Mom could be there and share in this special event with us.  Truly an answer to prayer!

We were touched by how many of our friends made an appearance!   So many special faces - 

Everyone contributed their favorite dessert or finger food, and we served a variety of tea, coffee, and hot chocolate.  The food tables were incredible!  As someone commented, "We should have invited other churches to join us!"  

It was good for everyone to hear from Rachael how God brought Eric into her life and share a little about him since most had not yet met him.  We were also very surprised and delighted to receive a warm thank you from Eric himself via speaker phone!  Such a southern gentleman.  

We were encouraged by the words of wisdom from two godly women:  Mom and a good family friend, Julie Mauser.  

And then the fun part - opening the mountain of gifts!  People were so generous in helping Rachael and Eric set up their new home.

We are so grateful for all those who helped to make the evening a special memory.  Now we look forward to December 30, 2017 as Rachael and Eric make their vows to one another.  May God richly bless them in the years ahead!

Thanksgiving Day 2017

Yesterday was a whirlwind celebrating Eric & Rachael's engagement and the Thanksgiving holiday.  I'm grateful we were able to be together given the changes that are just around the corner with two marrying and moving to other states.

Mom, Kathy, and I had fun cooking for the big day.  Our menu consisted of turkey and gravy (of course), cranberry sauce (provided by Essie), yeast biscuits, green beans wrapped in bacon, Grandmother's dressing, mashed potatoes, broccoli, a chopped salad (provided by Eric), pumpkin and apple pies (provided by Ben & Laura), and pilgrim hat cupcakes.

Kathy decorated the table with things around the house that we had, and it didn't turn out too bad...

The kids had loads of fun with snugglebear and snugglebug.  Thanks to Eric & Rachael for providing the memorable entertainment! :)

We rejoice with Eric & Rachael at God's work in their lives!  Now to prepare for their special day on December 30, 2017.

She Said Yes!

Congratulations Rachael and Eric!  This is an answer to prayer.  We look forward to seeing how God uses you together in His Kingdom.
